About Visit Pueblo

Your independent guide to the Steel City — Pueblo, Colorado.

Our Mission

Visit Pueblo is an independent travel and tourism guide dedicated to showcasing everything that makes Pueblo, Colorado a remarkable destination. From the world-famous Pueblo Mirasol chile pepper to the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk, from the steel heritage that built the American West to the thriving arts scene at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center — Pueblo has a story worth telling.

About Pueblo

Pueblo sits at 4,695 feet above sea level along the Arkansas River in southern Colorado, about 100 miles south of Denver. Home to over 115,000 residents, Pueblo is Colorado's fourth-largest city and one of its most culturally rich. The city enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine per year, making it an ideal destination for outdoor recreation, from windsurfing on Pueblo Reservoir to hiking in Pueblo Mountain Park.

The city's unique character comes from its layered history — Native American presence dating back thousands of years, Spanish colonial influence, a critical role in the American frontier era (Fort Pueblo, 1842), and the massive steel industry that defined the 20th century. Today, Pueblo is experiencing a cultural and culinary renaissance, with new restaurants, breweries, and arts venues breathing fresh energy into its historic downtown.

The Pueblo Chile

No guide to Pueblo would be complete without mentioning the legendary Pueblo Mirasol chile pepper. Unique to the Pueblo region, this medium-hot chile is used in everything from green chile sauce to tamales, and it's the star of the annual Chile & Frijoles Festival each September. Many consider it among the best chile peppers in the world — and Puebloans will not disagree.
