A simple first day

Morning. Start downtown at the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk, then walk up to El Pueblo History Museum, built on the site of the 1842 Fort Pueblo trading post.

Midday. Lunch on Union Avenue. Try a Pueblo slopper, an open-faced burger smothered in green chile, or a plate of tamales.

Afternoon. Pick one: the Pueblo Zoo in City Park, Lake Pueblo State Park, or the Weisbrod Aircraft Museum.

Evening. A taproom near the Riverwalk, then dinner downtown.

The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk

The heart of downtown. Paths, boats, public art and restaurants line the restored river channel, and most of the places in this guide are a short walk or drive from it.
